Emerald Pearl granite
Description of colouring and granulometry: dark green, coarse-grained plutonic rock of a black to dark olive-green colour with a regular and uniform structure. The characteristic colour change effect derives from the fracture and the reflection of the light falling on the anorthoclase crystals which have a lamellar form. The reflecting light follows the different angles depending on the cutting plane. It is quarried in the south-east of Norway, in the Larvik region, in Klastan. Production / availability: medium-good. Finitions-textures: smooth, polish, flamed, clived. Prevailing applications: interior and exterior. Other commercial names: Emerald Pearl, Dark Larvikite, Dark Labrador. Physical and mechanical properties: volumetric weight: 2740-2750 kg/m3; porosity: 0.4-1.5%; water absorption: 0.16 (weight %); compression breaking load: 1399-1475 kg/cm2; compression breaking load after gelivity: 1313-1617 kg/cm2; bending breaking load: 127-151 kg/cm2; thermal expansion coefficient: 0.0085 mm/m°C; elasticity modulus: 629000 kg/cm2; wear for abrasion according to Boehme: 5-8 cm3/50cm2; impact resistance: 55/60 cm. -------------------- Description from TRE Collection: materials, manufacturing and uses ANNUAL STONE by Beatrice Zoppas |
